Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Arlington Heights covers about 16.6 square miles and more than 50 public parks, so choosing a neighborhood here mostly comes down to how close you want to be to the train. These four areas draw the most renter interest:

Downtown Arlington Heights
The village's central business district packs more than 30 shops and nearly 40 restaurants into a few walkable blocks, with four public parking garages for anyone who drives in. Dunton Tower Apartments stands on Vail Avenue here, roughly two blocks from the Metra platform and a few hundred feet from Harmony Park. Free Sounds of Summer concerts fill that park on Thursday evenings from June through August.

Uptown
The Uptown district centers on the intersection of Arlington Heights Road and Rand Road, a corridor built around everyday shopping rather than nightlife. That crossing carries roughly 47,000 vehicles a day, which is a fair measure of how much retail lines it. Renters here trade walkability for easy parking and a quick run north toward Lake Arlington.

Southtown
Southtown anchors at Arlington Heights Road and Golf Road, the part of the village closest to Interstate 90 and the shortest drive to O'Hare International Airport. Mitsuwa Marketplace, the largest Japanese grocer in the Midwest, sits nearby on Algonquin Road. This end suits commuters headed toward the Schaumburg and Elk Grove employment corridors.

North Arlington Heights and Lake Arlington
The north end of the village wraps around Lake Arlington, a man made recreation area with a loop path along the water. Frontier Park and the Nickol Knoll golf course both sit in this stretch. It reads quieter and more residential than downtown, with a longer drive to the station.

Arlington Heights is the 15th largest municipality in Illinois and the highest ranked Illinois community on U.S. News and World Report's 2025-2026 Best Places to Live list, where it placed 56th nationally. Four things account for most of that standing:

A Downtown Built Around the Metra Platform
The Arlington Heights station sits at 45 West Northwest Highway between Vail and Dunton Avenues, about 23 miles from Ogilvie Transportation Center on the Union Pacific Northwest Line. It ranks among the busiest stations in the entire Metra system outside the Chicago terminals. From Dunton Tower Apartments the platform is about two tenths of a mile away, which explains why so much of the downtown housing stock leases to commuters.

Arlington Alfresco and Sounds of Summer
The village closes four downtown blocks to cars from May through September for Arlington Alfresco, an outdoor dining district that drew more than 360,000 visitors in 2025. Free Sounds of Summer concerts run Thursday evenings in Harmony Park from June through August, a series now in its 25th year. Frontier Days brings a carnival and the Fourth of July parade to Recreation Park at the start of July.

715 Acres of Parks Plus Busse Woods
The Arlington Heights Park District maintains more than 50 public parks across 715 acres, along with two public golf courses, five community centers with outdoor pools, and the Olympic Indoor Swim Center. Three miles to the south southwest, the 3,558 acre Ned Brown Preserve, known locally as Busse Woods, carries nearly 13 miles of paved trail and an elk pasture. Living at Dunton Tower puts both the downtown parks and that preserve within reach on the same afternoon.

A Library in the National Top One Percent
The Arlington Heights Memorial Library regularly earns a five star rating from Library Journal, a designation given to roughly one percent of public libraries nationwide. Beyond the collections it runs a makerspace stocked with a commercial kitchen, 3D printers, and laser cutters. The building sits on Dunton Avenue, under half a mile north of the downtown core.

Dunton Tower Apartments puts Harmony Park about 300 feet from the front door and the Metropolis Performing Arts Centre roughly a block away. Residents regularly head to:

  • Metropolis Performing Arts Centre
  • Hey Nonny
  • Big Shot Piano Lounge
  • Harmony Park
  • Arlington Heights Historical Museum
  • Arlington Heights Memorial Library
  • Beverly Lanes
  • House of Music and Entertainment
  • Recreation Park
  • Lake Arlington
  • Busse Woods
  • Mitsuwa Marketplace

The first four on that list all fall within about 400 feet of the building, which is unusual for a suburban address.

Dunton Tower Apartments sits roughly 23 miles northwest of the Chicago Loop, with Interstate 90 and Illinois Route 53 along the village's southern and western edges and the Union Pacific Northwest Line running from two blocks away. Healthcare, aviation, logistics, and medical technology dominate the employment base within reach:

  • Endeavor Health Northwest Community Hospital (Arlington Heights)
  • GE HealthCare (pharmaceutical diagnostics operations in Arlington Heights, headquartered in Chicago)
  • Amazon (delivery and distribution campus in Arlington Heights)
  • Red Bull (distribution facility in Arlington Heights)
  • Mitsuwa Marketplace (Arlington Heights)
  • Village of Arlington Heights and the Arlington Heights Park District
  • Arlington Heights School District 25
  • Arlington Heights Memorial Library
  • United Airlines (headquartered at Willis Tower in Chicago, with its largest hub at O'Hare)
  • Paylocity (headquartered in nearby Schaumburg)
  • Harper College (Palatine)
  • Woodfield Mall retailers (Schaumburg)

The Metra ride from the Arlington Heights platform reaches Ogilvie Transportation Center in well under an hour, so a job in the Loop does not require owning a car.

Everything at Dunton Tower is stacked into one fifteen-story building, from the amenity level down to the lobby:

Heated Pool, Sundeck, and the Outdoor Oasis
The outdoor heated swimming pool opens onto a sundeck, and an adjoining oasis carries grills and a firepit. Sliding glass doors run wall to wall between the indoor lounge and the deck, so a gathering can move outside without breaking up. With Harmony Park a few hundred feet away, an afternoon at the water and a Thursday evening concert fit into the same plan.

Club Dunton and the Lobby Coffee Bar
Club Dunton is the resident lounge, and the coffee bar keeps the lobby busy through the morning. Complimentary Wi-Fi covers every social space, which makes the lounge a usable workspace on days nobody feels like commuting. The fitness center and the package lockers both run around the clock, and planned social activities give the calendar some structure.

A Private Skyway to Garage Parking
An enclosed private skyway connects the building to garage parking, so residents reach their cars without stepping outside in January. On site retail covers a dry cleaner, a bank, a dentist, an optical shop, and a nail salon. Temperature controlled storage lockers are available on site.

Two Pets Welcome, Plus a Washing Station
Up to two pets per apartment home are welcome, with some breed and weight restrictions, and a washing station sits on site for the muddy days. Between downtown sidewalks and the loop path at Lake Arlington a few miles north, walking routes are easy to vary. The leasing office has the full pet policy and current fees.
